Grading

Grades are based on daily rehearsal attendance and participation,

rehearsal and performance attendance and participation.

Daily Participation Grade

Students will be assessed daily on rehearsal participation, posture, promptness, self-discipline, responsibility, ability to listen and follow director’s suggestions, good attitude and willingness to work hard.

The ability to listen is the single most important skill to develop in order to be a good choir member. Developing the self-discipline and the ability to know when to speak and when to listen will be an important part of the student grade. Also, the ability to focus on the director and the music and to maintain a cooperative attitude will be an important part of the daily participation grade.

Participation in the daily warm-up exercises will be graded every day. It is important to arrive to class on time and to begin each warm-up exercise on time. Tardiness will affect the grade.

Students will be expected to be responsible for all personal materials and music needed for daily rehearsals. All materials should be returned to the proper places at the end of every rehearsal.

A good attitude is a must! Negative comments will not be acceptable. Students will be expected to work hard and strive for musical excellence at all times.

Performances/Rehearsals

This is a performance class. Students will be expected to attend ALL performances and rehearsals. There will be many dress rehearsals and performances throughout the year. Dates will be posted well in advance. If there is a major conflict, the director MUST be notified in advance. All situations will be handled on an individual basis.
Students will be expected to remain for the duration of the entire rehearsal or performance in order to be awarded full credit.

It will be the responsibility of the student to notify the director in advance of any conflicts.
